Yes!!
Hail to the King is one awesome song!! If the rest of the album is anything like this, it's going to be my new favorite of theirs!
Phenomenal
As expected, much different sound in the single from their previous work. Definitely classic metal sounding with huge riffs and some groove to it (as the band promised). Very nice solo also. A must buy.
Huge A7X fan, have been for a long time but... Meh.
First of all, I'm no fair weather fan. Been listening to Avenged since Waking the Fallen, and I defend them fervently from people who attack the band, but honestly, this album is just okay. This album feels a little slower paced and less exciting to me I guess, I was hoping for at least a few more heavier songs. I really like Requiem, but everything else is decent or just okay. I'm a huge fan of the band, but this just feels like it's missing something to me. I've always really liked their heavier songs or their faster paced songs, many of those were A7X's most popular songs (I'm thinking Bat Country, Critical Acclaim, Afterlife, Beast & the Harlot, etc). I know that they said they weren't going to make another nightmare/waking the fallen and all of that, as that's their style, they do a fantastic job of making all of their songs pretty unique, but this album just feels kind of boring to me in comparison to their previous stuff. I'll still be with them the whole way, going to shows over the next few years until the next album, but this just isn't my cup of tea. Also, I know that they were aiming for that older sound that was influenced by the great bands of rock and metal, but "This Means War" bothers the crap out of me, and that's rare with a sevenfold song for me. It just sounds way too much like "Sad But True" by Metallica. That's about the only song that really bothers me though...

The members of metalcore outfit Avenged Sevenfold (or A7X) were still attending high school in Huntington Beach, California, when they formed their band in 1999. Nevertheless, it didn't take long for M. Shadows (vocals), Zacky Vengeance (guitar), Synyster Gates (guitar), the Reverend (drums), and Johnny Christ (bass) to make an impression with their aggressive hybrid of metal, hard rock, and punk-pop. The band made its official debut in July 2001, releasing Sounding the Seventh Trumpet on the Goodlife...
